Yeading Junior Stand out of the Crowds at We Day
On the 5th March 2015, Staff from Yeading Junior School accompanied twenty-one Year 6 children to We Day at Wembley Arena. We shared the most amazing experiences. Our children were tremendous.
We had a very proud moment as Juhi from Year 6 took to the stage and spoke to the crowds of adults and children about her passion for change and how ‘We’ can make a difference. She was able to meet some of the celebrities behind stage and found the whole experience amazing. This was an accolade for a school.
“I was overwhelmed by the fact that I was speaking on stage at the Wembley Arena and representing my school. The crowds were so supportive and really cheered me on. Paralympian Andy Barrow mentioned my name a few times in his speech. This made me feel so proud of my achievement.” Juhi, Year 6.
It was the second ever We Day UK, and 12,000 young world-changers from across the country joined us in the SSE Arena to dream big, talk about major social causes, and of course, celebrate all the positive changes we have all been making!
From amazing performances by artists like ‘Years & Years’ and ‘Bars and Melody’ to mind-opening speeches from speakers like Kweku Mandela and Martin Sheen - this was definitely a day we won’t forget anytime soon!
“There were a lot of inspirational people who made me feel very emotional. I was so happy to see Juhi on stage. I particularly liked Kweku Mandela. The atmosphere was incredible - what a fantastic day!” Abdulrahman, Year 6.
And so, our work with Free the Children will continue throughout the year as we plan more fundraising opportunities and children will engage in more local and global learning.
