Yeading Junior School
Learning, Working and Achieving Together
London 2012 gave Britain a once in a lifetime opportunity to inspire a nation to enjoy sport.
This year, Yeading Junior School are focusing on Sport and implementing new ways of offering specialised training to our children.
We now have a PE specialist that comes into the school once a week to help teachers improve teaching and learning various sports. He also works alongside teachers taking on the gifted and talented children to improve their associated skills.
Also - for Year 5 children, there is now a dedicated Gym Coach working to ensure every child is given an opportunity to learn a sport to their full potential.
Our close links with other schools has meant we are able to offer ‘Taster’ sessions whereby experts in different sports come to the school and offer their knowledge about the sport and aid children into trying it out, for example Weightlifting.
Our links with Hayes cricket club is ever growing. This summer they hosted a summer school where 12 children from Yeading Junior School attended. It was a huge success resulting in the parents forming a group and having a family picnic on the last day. Being active in Sport not only brings children together but families too.
Whether there is a future Jessica Ennis, Ellie Simmonds or Mo Farah, or someone who will simply learns to love sport and exercise for a lifetime, this investment in sport by Yeading Junior School will benefit a whole generation of children for many years to come.
