Yeading Junior School

Learning, Working and Achieving Together

Year 5

Welcome to Year 5

This year aims to help our children grow in terms of personal independence in order to flourish and succeed and to find and take control of their place in the world.  In class, children are encouraged to take more ownership of their thoughts, words, actions and learning.  Lessons are exciting and challenging.  The Year 5 teachers work hard to ensure that every child realises their full potential.

Through Character Education children develop a deeper understanding of their responsibilities and how they can affect those around them.  Through social action children learn how to use their voices in the world.  Class assemblies and the autumn production allow children to gain confidence with public speaking and to demonstrate these skills to a wider audience.

The spring residential fosters independent growth and enhances interaction with peers during a range of outdoor activities enabling them to tackle new challenges.

In the summer term the children are starting to prepare for their transition to Year 6.
